Wild Lotus Yoga 🧘 is my home away from home. So many smiling faces, great classes, workshops, fun and warmth. I’m so happy I started yoga with the Wild Lotus community 5 years ago. My life has transformed. If you are a complete beginner like I was, this is the place for you! If you’re a certified yoga instructor, like I am now, it’s still the place to learn so much more. Come join us. I hope to see you at the next class 😃🥰🫶🏼💕🧘

Wild Lotus is a special place. The studio offers a variety of physical classes, including restorative (holding poses for extended amounts of time with use of props), to bhakti (vinyasa class with singing, storytelling, or chanting mantra), to hot and spicy. There's a class for every kind of yogi! The teachers are uniformly excellent, and the community is so warm and welcoming. It is approachable and accepting environment to begin or deepen one's yoga practice.

The Freedom to be offerings were my introduction to the studio. My first class was with Javiera (the best!) and she has such a welcoming, warm, sweet personality, that I immediately felt comfortable. And the class!! It was spicy and fun...I was hooked.
This is such a beautiful and generous space. The staff, the teachers, everyone is so nice and knowleadgeable. They also make it so easy to feel at home and part of a community.

I just completed a four week introduction to yoga class with Dena, and highly recommend it. I think these fundamentals or introduction classes are proof that sometimes yoga can feel inaccessible to beginners and we have to be so intentional about offerings for them! I recently had a yoga studio close the door in my face. An experience that made no sense to me but I can only assume that I didn’t look like what a”yoga person” could look like. Yoga people look like everyone, as proved to me by the range of ages and ability in my class. Having a coach like Dena proves that some people get it! Every single interaction I had it wild lotus was pleasant. At the first class someone behind the desk greeted me, knowing I was new, let me know everything I needed to know. The classes are run on time and kept a great energy. Overall I really recommend the studio and if you’re thinking about being a beginner somewhere I really recommend a spot.

I used to do yoga here in 2014-2015 and stopped because I moved a little further from the studio. I recently started going back for their prenatal yoga classes. They are the only yoga studio in the GNO area I could find that still offers prenatal yoga. I was quickly reminded what a warm and welcoming studio Wild Lotus is. The class is varied every week, and really helps me stretch and stay in shape as I prepare to give birth! It's nice to be in a class with other expecting mamas. My only suggestion would be to offer perhaps a weekday evening class as well! Often my birthing/childcare classes are on Saturday mornings so I do have to alternate weeks. I don't know if Wild Lotus ever offered the cold aromatherapy wash clothes at the end of class for the face. I remember going to a prenatal class with a friend 10 years ago elsewhere, and that was one of my favorite parts; I would not hate if Wild Lotus offered that! 🙂 read moreread less

I’ve been going to Wild Lotus for 10+ years, and it is truly a healing place, and a blessing to our community. They have been instrumental in my journey through grief and my struggle through PTSD/panic disorder. I feel like every teacher I have known there has contributing to my healing so you really can’t go wrong there. I do especially enjoy the Bhakti classes, they have been essential to my emotional healing. A super special thank you / shout out to Sean, AC, Zach, Adrienne, Vera, & Leo - THANK YOU FOR MY HEALING. 🙏

Was in town visiting and chose this class based on the class description which included mindful movement and meditation. Farrah was awesome. I'm so happy I showed up. Funny how times change....this used to be my drycleaner in the early 90s. But it's been a yoga studio for over a decade... I've practiced yoga off and on for awhile but I can never remember what anything is called. I've decided this is a mental block from having choreography screamed at me in dance class as a child. I'm trying to get better. So I know I do better when things are explained to me.
I've been taking a series of intro to yoga (4 weeks at a time) this year and it's really helping my stress levels and my breathing... why do I hold my breath so often? I've had a series of instructors as I've taken these classes and I find their different approaches helpful and how they focus on different things.
I expect some hippieness and as I really need to work on my breathing that's actually good for me. The facility is great, always clean. The staff is always friendly. And it's 5 minutes (by car) from my house.

This is a lovely yoga studio - I took a class from Zach while visiting New Orleans. It's clean, peaceful, and the yoga is perfect. Being in the area for a while for work, my housemate brought me here for a noon yoga class. It was a gentle flow class and I really enjoyed it. The yoga space is very light and nicely decorated, there are plenty of props nicely kept in the studios and interesting books, refreshments and water available in the foyer. There is a real community feel with lots of activities, weekend trainings, special events and even a challenge coming up of who can do the most yoga classes during the lent period, with prizes!
There is a special offer for locals that you can get your first 30 days pass for only $33 which is an absolute bargain! And it has encouraged me to branch out and try different classes- I have been to 3 (gentle flow, restorative and 'spicy')and each instructor has welcomed me and given me exactly what I needed that day on my mat. Namaste

Wild Lotus is by far my favorite yoga studio in New Orleans. The space itself is absolutely beautiful, everyone that works there is very nice and helpful, and the teachers are amazing. Wild Lotus has a large schedule with classes to fit every person's needs. AND the best part is for new students (who live locally in New Orleans) your first month of yoga is only $33! I highly recommend doing the new student special if you are looking to try out the studio, since you can see which teachers you like best and try out all different types of classes (they have "spicy" classes for more advanced yogis all the way to more restorative or calm classes like flow & restore or align and shine). The schedule is very easy to read or the staff is great about letting you know which classes will best meet your needs! The teachers are also great about letting you know how to modify a pose to make it easier or more difficult so you feel comfortable in the class. My favorite part of Wild Lotus is it really does work your body and your mind (I know it sounds so cliche I'm sorry). If you are looking for just a work out with no mantra talk/ chanting/ story telling than maybe Wild Lotus isn't the best fit for you. While harder classes are physically taxing, there is always a mental component as well. Each month there is a theme for the studio and the teachers tie in the themes in their own way. Some months will be poetry themes, others are focused on storytelling, others focus on chakras, you really never know what the theme will be. Many of the teachers weave the theme in throughout their classes, which I absolutely love.
I have taken classes with a lot of the teachers at the studio and they are all amazing in their own way. I highly recommend checking out Wild Lotus if you're looking for a yoga studio in New Orleans, you won't be disappointed!
Note: they also have a location on St. Claude in the Bywater if you are downtown instead of uptown. The same teachers work at both studios and you can use your monthly unlimited at both!

Before entering this studio I had partaken in only two different yoga classes- both leaving me a little bitter about the whole hype. A friend dragged me to a Sunday evening class which emphasized meditation. Instead of my anticipated disappointment the class left me feeling rejuvenated and hungry for more.I decided to try the 30 days for $30 because I figured I'd break even after attending three classes. I began with the morning classes, as they focused on flow and easy/medium level experience. I was sore after the first couple classes but felt just as mentally satisfied as the first.
I continued to go testing the styles of all the instructors and found each contributed a unique rhythm to the studio. They all were incredibly insightful and were able to individually help each one of their students in a gentle and encouraging manner.
My favorite was certainly align&shine, the music and flow energized my morning which spilled into the remainder of my day. I am now an avid practitioner of yoga and have found an entirely new respect for the importance of self awareness and head space- thank you to WLY!

Great yoga classes. The level descriptions match the pace of the class perfectly, but I've always felt comfortable modifying in a spicy class when I wasn't feeling up for it. Teachers have a deep understanding of yoga as a practice not just as a fitness routine. Community of students is diverse, friendly and down to earth. Beautiful studios. Vera and Ac's classes are my favorites!

I have practiced yoga off and on again for years - but always at whichever gym I was currently attending. This is the first true yoga studio I have attended, and I love it. The yoga rooms are spacious with lots of natural light. The teachers are all very kind and attentive. My first month I joined using the new to studio $33 for unlimited classes and this was a great deal. I was able to try out a bunch of different classes and find my "fit." I have to admit, I was a little bit intimidated to come here at first - I thought people might be "judgy" or condescending toward those of us who don't have perfect yoga bodies - but I was so wrong. Everyone I have met here has been exceptionally nice and accepting. I always walk out feeling a million times better than when I walked in. There is just a very peaceful, loving vibe here which will keep me coming back. read moreread less

I will never do yoga anywhere else in this city! I love this studio.. it perfectly encompasses everything I could ever want from a yoga studio. AC, Farrah, and Sean are all top notch instructors, with great attitudes, who are willing to help and really push you but maintain your comfort level without any judgment. The vinyasa classes, well, they really flow! I always walk out of Wild Lotus feeling much better than I did when I walked in. My only complaint is that they sometimes allow people to walk in after the class has already started/the instructors are speaking or warming us up. It's incredibly distracting and takes away from the peaceful vibe they are trying to set. Wish that once the door was closed, it stayed closed. Other than that, wouldn't change a thing! read moreread less

For the two years I lived in New Orleans, Wild Lotus was my go-to yoga studio for one reason: a teacher there named AC Lambeth. She offers challenging but unique and intelligent vinyasa sequences in her Spicy Flow classes, and her spiritual talks were never the trite and hackneyed aphorisms one often hears in cookie-cutter yoga classes, but actually quite thoughtful and inspiring. To this day she remains one of the best yoga instructors I have encountered in the 5+ years and 4+ cities I have been practicing, and miss her now that I have moved out of town. read moreread less

Since having moved to New Orleans about a year and a half ago, I have been on a quest to find the "perfect" yoga studio. Every studio is different, with different teaching styles, schedules, teachers, and prices. Wild Lotus has won me over, so I signed up for their 99$/month unlimited yoga package.I first came here over a year ago and tried the new student special, which is 33$ for a month of unlimited yoga. This is such a wonderful deal, and I would recommend anyone to sign up for it if it's your first time at this studio.Even if you attend just 3 classes, it's pretty much already paid for itself. I attended classes fairly religiously, trying out the different teachers and classes. There are classes suitable for the very beginners to advanced yogis, mothers, men, children...
The teachers are probably my favorite part of this studio. They each have unique teaching styles, and leave you feeling like you not only had a good workout, but with a feeling of peace and relaxation. Most classes are taught in a vinyasa style flow structure. The studio has a "theme" for the month, and before/during the class, the teachers will incorporate the theme into the practice. They might read some quotes, or an excerpt from a book. There is also about 10-20 minutes of each class that is dedicated to this and/or meditation. When I first came here, this sort of bothered me. Sometimes I just want to come into yoga class and start moving and sweating. Eventually, I realized that being still and breathing is a very important part of any yoga practice. I like how you never know what you're gunna get here... all the sequences and flows vary from day to day. I have never been a big fan of Bikram yoga, where you literally do the same poses every single time. You won't find that at Wild Lotus.
The front desk staff is friendly. The prices for a drop in I think are 16$? which i think is steep. If you plan on attending more than 3x/week, I would opt for a monthly package. They also have a downtown studio!
OH! There are 2 rooms, both of which are big. Even if a class is packed, you still feel like you have room to move. Most classes, especially ones in the early afternoon, are not packed and there is plenty of room to move and try poses that require more space. There are lots of windows (natural light) and if the weather is nice they open up some doors that allows for a wonderful breeze and birds chirping.
I would definitely recommend this studio! I look forward to showing up on my mat here everyday 🙂

Okay, my opinion has shifted a bit due to their change in prices for 2014, which has positives and negatives. To their credit, they offer a $99 unlimited monthly auto renew. But some of the other changes bother me. A drop in is $17, and I believe that is up from $15 in 2013. When I started at WL two and a half years ago, a drop in was $14. The ten class pass is now auto renew and up from $120 to $130. That's not a huge increase, I know, and it no longer expires, which I think is great. They used to give both students and teachers a discount on a ten class pass at $100. Now it's $120, and they do not mention a teacher discount in the price menu. It's the $17 drop in that I have the most concern about. I'm a big proponent of practicing at a yoga studio versus a gym, but 3 WL drop ins a month is more than the cost of an entire month at the nice gym in my neighborhood (that includes unlimited access to yoga and other group fitness). I understand that a Bikram class is about $20, and some of the other established studios in the city are $16 drop in. But, I always admired Wild Lotus for having some restraint and humility with their prices. I think that some of these yoga studios are really pushing it with their pricing. Like any place, some teachers are better than others, and $17 is a lot for some. I respect that they do offer a good number of sliding scale classes that start at $5, and that's great. However, I go to Wild Lotus largely because of one teacher, and she does not teach any of the sliding scale classes regularly. (Sometimes she is a sub). All this being said, I will continue to practice at Wild Lotus, and I do appreciate that their new pricing does have a number of advantages, especially for those who live near the studio and are able to attend multiple times a week. read moreread less

I have been practicing yoga for over 3 years but after a recent back injury I have found myself at square one. One of the main reasons I started practicing at Wild Lotus is because they have many different classes for different skill levels. I started here taking the super mellow restorative classes and am slowing building my way back into flow classes. So far, every class I have taken with several different teachers has been great. All teachers are nice and approachable and eager to help modify, but you do need to speak up if you want this. Also, there prices are really reasonable and I like that you can register online for the classes. My only suggestion... they offer discounted rates for students and teachers... what about nurses? between the high stress levels and frequency of back injuries in this profession, more nurses could use yoga! 🙂 read moreread less

I regularly practice at Wild Lotus Downtown, as it's all but practically in my backyard. I finally got to check out their glorious Uptown location recently and I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone to do so. I'm a current monthly subscriber, so that means you get to take unlimited classes at both locations for the low price of $130. Sweet deal, right? Check out the schedule and you're bound to find something that fits your busy lifestyle. This studio is just as beautiful as the one Downtown and has a similar set up of two rooms in which to take classes. Great-smelling, too (incense doesn't burn during class in case that bothers you. It doesn't bother me, but I appreciate that they are understanding of everyone's varying preferences and needs). I also appreciate that the room temperature always seems just right at Wild Lotus Downtown and that's the case at their Uptown studio as well. Just when you start to notice the sweat dripping off your forehead, the a/c comes on for a little while and then goes off so you're not freezing. I really cannot stand hot yoga. Damn, if I wanted that, I'd just practice outside on any New Orleans summer day (actually, that sounds much more agreeable to me than a stifling room without any fresh air).
I also want to reiterate my appreciation for the teachers of Wild Lotus (you can see specifics in my reviews of Downtown). All of them are fantastic. Most are all-levels (with the exception of spicy flow, but don't let the description scare you off, unless you're a true beginner needing the basics!) and truly inspirational. If you don't leave transformed, you'll at the very least leave feeling 10X better than when you walked in (at least I do! It's been a stressful two weeks for me and Wild Lotus is my refuge).
Can't wait to come back up here to take advantage of the Tri Yoga classes. That's a style very close to Kundalini, which I practiced for years, but with the added benefit of flow. There's a teacher here who specializes in that style and once subbed out a class Downtown. Now, I'm determined to cross Canal on a more regular basis.
Wild Lotus, I cannot express my gratitude enough.

I like the studio - very roomy and the classes are consistently a solid flow. I usually do the community classes since they offer a bunch and the teachers offer plenty of corrections. I do wish the "medium" level flow was a little more challenging or that the spicy included more inversions on a regular basis, but overall, good experience. read moreread less

Almost done with my Intro to Yoga 6 week course with Cissy and I'm sad because I genuinely loved every minute of it. I was terrified about going to a yoga class by myself and as a beginner, but everyone that works here and takes classes here is filled with kindness.Cissy is a kind, gentle, yet challenging teacher and I highly recommend her to anyone thinking about starting a yoga practice. I always feel relaxed and encouraged in her class. The course I took was at the downtown studio in the Healing Center.
The only downside is the per class cost, which is a bit steep for a poor graduate student such as myself, but I felt that my $70 was well spent on this course and I look forward to taking another one in January.
I'm crossing my fingers that Santa brings me a Wild Lotus gift certificate so I can take more classes here. However, they do have sliding scale community classes, which I am excited to try.

Wild Lotus is a jewel. A rare and precious jewel. I moved away from New Orleans to San Diego CA but have not found a yoga studio that can hold a candle to Wild Lotus despite the fact there is a yoga studio on nearly every corner here. The spirit of Wild Lotus is so true and bright and comes directly from owner Sean Johnson. Sean embodies a yogic life. His teaching and music are honest and beautiful and the too few interactions I had with him still inspire me today. Moreover, Sean has perfect business integrity and should be a shining example of true and meaningful success to all yogis. I enjoy the prenatal yoga classes. I attend them every Thursday night (offered on Saturdays as well) and the class gets me comfortable enough to get through the week. The instructors are knowledgeable about pregnancy, and the staff members are pleasant. If I continue to attend classes after I deliver I won't be looking forward to the price increase. I had a good deal when I bought a package of ten classes as a new customer and because I was pregnant they allowed me to take more time to use the package. read moreread less

For the past six years, I have been dedicated to Iyengar Yoga. I began practicing yoga as a way to begin the long journey of reaching inward in order to address anxiety and depression issues that had plagued me most of my life. As a newcomer to the magical realm of yoga, the strictness of Iyengar was perfect for me - it provided guidelines for me to follow in order to work on my physical form that, in turn, allowed me to begin my inner practice. About a month ago, I accompanied a friend to a Friday night "TGIF" class led by Farah at Wild Lotus uptown. Having never done flow yoga before, I didn't know what to expect. The class focused on syncing breath with the asanas, as is typical of flow yoga, and our movements were accompanied by a great playlist of songs - a very new experience for me! The combination of music, Farah's lilting voice gently describing the poses and our breathing, and the detoxifying effect of the constant flow of motion led me to joy, a wringing out of sadness and stress, and relieving tears at the end of class. For a complete yoga experience that allows you to work out your entire body and mind, I recommend Wild Lotus Yoga. So far, this is my favorite studio to frequent in New Orleans. read moreread less

I've taken classes at both the Uptown and the Downtown studio (which is located in the New Orleans Healing Center..which is a really rad space that is slightly mazelike and full of healthy things like the New Orleans Food Co-Op - see neworleanshealingcenter.org), and both studios are very spacious and full of natural light. Wild Lotus takes a lot of care to always have an altar at the front of the studio with candles burning, which is nice. At the Uptown studio, in the left room, they often open the two doors in the front of the room during class, which is incredible - you can see out into the street, and the wind billows the curtains around, etc.. It's only not incredible when a large delivery truck parks right in front of the door 🙂 My only qualms with both studios is that they tend to get very warm, and there's not a lot of air/fan movement, unlike Life Yoga. I've only taken Medium and Spicy level Shakti Flow classes, so I can't vouch for any of the others, although they do have an awesome variety of classes available. The instructors are all very sweet and make an effort to learn your name from the roll sheet. AC's Spicy Shakti Flow class is amazing. She made me rethink my entire practice; she connects positions in totally new ways (for me, at least) and makes everything incredibly fluid. Her class also WORKS YOUR ASS OUT. After my membership expires, I would return only for AC's classes. I've also taken classes with Andra, Farah, and Amanda, and they're all very sweet, but I haven't enjoyed their styles as much as AC's. AC and Andra both take care to end their classes on time, which is very important to me. In the studio, there's no way to know what time it is, and if your schedule is anything like mine you need a 90-minute class to be exactly 90 minutes and no more - I distinctly remember once getting out of Amanda's Shakti Flow class, looking at my phone, and discovering that I was 24 minutes late! I understand that you should take your time with your practice, but I find that very irritating. However, the next time I took a class with her she let us know when it was the scheduled class time ending, which definitely helped, but still - I had to skip my final resting pose, which I feel isn't fair to me, because if you teach a 90-minute class you should plan it out accordingly, and not for a 120 minute class. I think part of the reason their classes tend to run late is that they always start a few minutes late AND take some time in the beginning of class to make announcements and do a reading of that month's theme/chakras we're working on/chants - if that process could be expedited a little, I think they could end on time more often.
Overall, I really enjoy Wild Lotus (and others do as well, since its won the Best Place To Take A Yoga Class award for what, the past nine years?), but Shanti Yoga Shala is probably still my current favorite yoga studio in the area. I will definitely always come back for AC's Spicy Shakti Flow classes though!!!

As a pretty inexperienced yogi, I am always hesitant to try a new studio. However, I soon learned that at Wild Lotus, all my fears were completely unjustified. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and the studio offers complimentary classes every Wednesday night. The instructors gently assist you in your poses (unlike other yoga studios, where a slightly off-kilter Warrior III will garner you snobby sneers...) and offer excellent tips on alignment and breathing. Plus, the amount of different classes Wild Lotus offers is simply amazing - over 50 classes per week, in all different styles. I've taken classes ranging from 'Gentle' to 'Spicy, and they were accessible and could be modified for yogis of all skill levels. Tamarin, Mike, Laura, Cheryl, and Sean are all amazing. If you want to do yoga in New Orleans for a fairly reasonable price in a lush, peaceful atmosphere - get yourself to Wild Lotus. read moreread less

Being new to New Orleans I had to search around and try all the different yoga studios. Having done that, I can say that Wild Lotus is by far my favorite. After my first class I felt at home, peaceful, centered, and ready to walk out into my new city and tackle some challenges. This studio offers many classes throughout every day. The classes are varied at all levels and some are for specific populations, ex tweens. I really really enjoy that class often starts with a reading, meditation, has a theme, and they never forget the Om! 🙂
Finally, the studio is beautiful and always clean. There is a front section with mats, necklaces, books, etc for purchasing. They offer mats but you should bring your own incase the studio is packed and they run out.

My favorite Yoga studio in the area! They have a good variety of classes/levels and each instructor I've had has been very knowledgeable. I love the ambiance of the rooms too. Very peaceful. I wish I could attend more often! read moreread less

I've never studied at another studio, but I have to say I can't imagine it can get better than this. Wild Lotus is an incredible yoga studio: beautiful, relaxing and peaceful on the inside, difficult to park by outside, with understanding and patient instructors. As a beginner, I've felt welcomed at every class, both by students and teachers (I've taken classes with Amy, Sean, Bill, Mike, and Laura thus far). Classes are offered at varying times throwout every single day, at all levels. Instructors are encouraging to everyone to practice at their own level, so even a newbie like myself, attending a Medium-Spicy class, is able to get what I need out of it.
Workshops are held every weekend, by visiting yogis as well as NOLA instructors and students, that are almost always completely packed. It's a good way to meet people in the community. There are even classes for children.
The pricing is very reasonable. It's $14 for a walk-in class, with discounted Community classes on Mondays and Saturday ($7). They have student discounts for their 10-class cards, as well as a special for people who are new to the studio--$108 for the 2-months unlimited classes. Seriously, amazing. They sell mats, some clothing, and locally-made jewelry.

Great yoga studio, hands-down. Wide variety of classes. I've taken classes with Amy, Sean and Bill and they were all great.I'm a beginner with some physical limitations (neck and back issues) and I feel totally comfortable here. They always tell everyone at the beginning of the class to go at our own pace, listen to our bodies, etc, which makes me feel good and establishes the non-competitive atmosphere. I highly recommend "Floating Lotus" which is all guided relaxation, breathing, and slow stretching - I feel so relaxed afterwords!
Wild Lotus has a lot of special workshops and visiting teachers, which I think is really awesome. They also have a "soul school" to teach yoga instructors.

Luckily found this great spot for challenging and entertaining yoga while in town for a conference. Loved the power yoga with Elaina and also Sean, who hit the mood perfectly on a stormy night with all rain-themed music. The staff gave me great recommendations for local eateries and music venues, and even a lift back to my hotel! Highly recommended, consider yourself lucky if you live in New Orleans and can go anytime. read moreread less

This is THE place to take yoga class if you are ever in town. A beautiful studio with wonderful instructors (I especially enjoyed Stacy's class). The classes are challenging, yet fun (I took power yoga and hot power yoga).I remember I felt like I was practicing yoga in the Caribbeans during the morning classes with sunlight, summer breeze, and music in the background. A true city oasis! I highly recommend this studio!

A beautiful yoga studio in uptown with incredibly kind, dedicated teachers. There is absolutely no attitude at this studio, and from the moment you walk in the door you are welcomed with open arms. Everyone from the experienced yogi to the beginner stepping on the mat for the first time will find a class to suit their needs. Yoga is very personal for many people, and the teachers do a very good job of balancing the emotional and physical parts of the practice. Also, the "10 class for $100" package is a great deal. Namaste. read moreread less
