Roots of Movement: Functional Anatomy and Alignment on and Off the Mat

During this 4 week course, we will explore the anatomy and alignment of our bodies in order to gain functionally and depth of movement on and off the mat.

By the end of the workshop, students will:

  • Explore and practice steps to move from a place of alignment, creating stability and mobility 
  • Broaden understanding of common yoga poses and explore modifications to enhance your practice 
  • Recognize and identify anatomical components of our body

Week 1: Lower Body – Feet and Legs

Week 2: Lower Body – Hips and Lower Back 

Week 3: Upper Body – Spine and Upper Back 

Week 4: Upper Body – Neck and Shoulders

Participants will be given optional specific exercises and explorations to practice at home following each session.

This course is eligible to earn Yoga Alliance CEUs (10 including contact and non-contact hours). Those who complete all 4 sessions, the home practice, and submit a short reflective essay can then receive credit.
