Art making is inherently healing. Maybe you are recovering from loss, transition or healing from illness and wondering how to make sense out of your experiences. Yoga & painting for wellness is a calling to all of those seeking a spark of wellbeing. Many of us who practice yoga asana find our way to the mat because we benefit from the mind clearing and stress reduction the poses offer us. This workshop brings the benefits of this calm and clear state to life by using a painting technique that will allow participants to create an opening for wellness and healing.
We will first move in a mellow-medium asana practice. Then we will paint while standing strongly in our bodies, not knowing where the image will take us. The emphasis will not be on product—it will be for the process and experience of painting, inviting what lies inside to move out to offer us meaning and perspective. We will also journal before concluding with restorative poses and reflection.
Basic yoga experience needed, but no experience in painting necessary! Just an openness to dive inside and create.
