“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.”
Dear Wild Lotus Yoga Community–
If yoga prepares us for anything, it’s for change, and we’re grateful to be supporting each other through this challenging time together.
As of Saturday June 13th, New Orleans is moving into Phase 2 which for the first time allows for group fitness classes (at 50% capacity) with a lot of safety and hygiene protocols. We are so excited to teach in-person classes again and reunite with you and could certainly use a boost in our income. But based on conversations with experts in our own community who work within the medical and public health fields, and research which speaks to the higher risk of groups of people indoors actively breathing, exerting and singing for lengths of time longer than a few minutes, it still feels important to be conservative about our transition to teaching in person classes indoors, despite the financial strain. With members of our own staff who are immune-compromised, and members of our families in higher risk — wanting to keep our teachers, students, and wider community safe– it feels like our best next step is to offer some outdoor classes with social distance in addition to continuing our daily online classes. We are actively seeking possible outdoor spaces Uptown and in the Marigny/ St. Roch/ Bywater neighborhood, ideally with shade and a solid floor. Please email us at email@example.com if you have any connections or suggestions that we can explore for offering outdoor classes.
In the meantime, please join us at Wild Lotus Yoga Online, where students in NOLA and around the world have been participating in our daily classes! We’d be so grateful for your support in participating in the online offerings and not cancelling your memberships, if you can.
Our Online Classes – How Does It Work?
Our goal is to stay connected, continue to support your well-being at this uncertain time, to continue to share offerings that are accessible and affordable, and to also find creative ways to pay our bills and support our teachers until we can return to in-person classes again.
This is the system that we’ve come up with right now, and may make changes as we learn more:
Register for the classes below at least a half hour before the class start time and we’ll e-mail you a unique private link approximately 15 minutes before the class begins, to enable you to take the class in the comfort of your own home. If you don’t receive the email in your inbox, be sure to check other folders like “Promotions” or “Spam.” To give you some flexibility with your schedule, the link will be live for 24 hours after the scheduled class start time, so you can practice during the designated time of the class or anytime during that 24 hour window. The 24 hour window allows for folks who like to practice in the morning to work with the classes from the afternoon and evening before.
Here are our price and membership options and you can also purchase a gift card for a friend or loved one anywhere in the world to help support the studio. Purchasing a membership or class package is much more affordable than a single class drop-in.
Also see the special interactive courses and workshops we’ll be offering through Zoom. Continuing our ongoing effort to help make yoga accessible to the community, we’ll also have discounted community classes each week and complimentary offerings publicly available to all on our new Wild Lotus Yoga YouTube Channel.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
